My thought was to try to get as good a raw scan as possible, and then do any adjustment / touch ups in Photoshop.

I have gotten Nikon scan installed and working on windows 10 ( a challenge there) but don't know if I should use that, or use VueScan, or Silverfast (I dont own either of those at the moment but it wouldn't be a big deal to buy them. and not have to go back and redo stuff later. I want to go back and start scanning a bunch of my better pictures at least, but if i am going to start a big archiving project, I want to do it once. It's mostly been packed away all this time after a few experimental scans. Back in 2007, when I first got into digital photography, i decided to get a scanner to scan my old film negatives (and also so my dad could scan his large collection of slides).
